Duncan Lawrence

Senior Director of Innovation

Duncan Lawrence is the Senior Director of Innovation for the Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI).

Prior to joining IRC, Duncan served as founding executive director of the Immigration Policy Lab at Stanford University. Building the organization from the ground up, Duncan created a global team of faculty, program managers, designers, data scientists, postdocs, and students who partner with nonprofits and government agencies to design and test new interventions and digital tools to support immigrants and refugees in countries around the globe. From co-designing, implementing, and rigorously evaluating the largest voucher program in the US to support immigrant naturalization to building an AI matching platform to support refugee and asylum-seeker integration now deployed in multiple countries, under Duncan's leadership, IPL established itself as a global leader in research and innovation in the service of vulnerable migrants.

He is a two-time Fulbright recipient and received his PhD in political science from the University of Colorado Boulder. His research has appeared in journals such as Science, PNAS, and JAMA Pediatrics.
